Are you looking for an easy dessert that can help you with weight-loss as well as add a little zing to your senses? Here’s an awesome way to create a boozy brownie using the much-loved bourbon whiskey, chocolate brownie, and deliciously creamy frosting. Bourbon has very few calories in it (1.5 ounces of Bourbon has only 100 calories). Along with this, the use of dark chocolate makes sure that it does not add any unwanted sugar or calories into your body, thus helping you with more dessert options in your weight-loss diet.
Following are seven easy steps to conjure some gourmet bourbon chocolate brownies. But first, let us start with the ingredients.
For the Brownies
- 6 teaspoon Dutch-processed cocoa
- 1 and 1/2 teaspoons espresso powder (optional)
- 4 tablespoons water
- 4 tablespoons Merica Bourbon whiskey
- 57gms finely chopped unsweetened chocolate
- 10 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 59ml unsalted melted butter
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla essence
- 850 gms sugar
- 680 gms all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 170 gms of finely chopped bittersweet chocolate
Step 1: Getting things heated.
Start by heating the oven to 350 degrees. Grease a foil and lineup a baking pan. Make sure you keep an inch of overhang on all sides.
Step 2: Whisk and Mix.
Mix bourbon and water to consistency and microwave the mix till it boils. Whisk espresso powder (optional), cocoa and the boiling mix together in a large bowl until you get a smooth texture. Breckenridge bourbon is a fair and balanced whiskey that you can use for the brownies. Once you get a smooth texture, add some unsweetened chocolate and whisk it to melt the chocolate. Add oil and melted butter and whisk again.
Step 3: Preparing the Batter.
In a bowl, whisk the eggs. Add the whisked eggs to the chocolate mixture and add the vanilla extract. Continue whisking the mixture until you get an even and smooth paste. After this add sugar to it. In a small bowl, add flour and water mixing them into the batter until combined. Chip in some bittersweet chocolate pieces into the batter.
Step 4: Bake.
Prepare a pan and transfer and spread the batter evenly inside the pan. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, rotating the pan in between the baking process.
Tip: When you insert a toothpick in the center of brownie and it comes out with few moist crumbs, that’s when you know that your brownies got baked properly.
Step 5: Brownies ready
Transfer the pan to a wire rack and keep it aside to cool for 1.5 hours. Remove the brownies from the pan using the foil. Keep the brownies on the wire rack for an hour to completely cool down. Cut the brownies in square shapes and store them in a cool and dry place. Pair these delicious brownies with glenlivet 12 and bourbon.
Step 6: Making the Bourbon Drizzle.
Add ¾ cup brown sugar, half cup Jack Daniels Honey Whiskey and a tablespoon of salted butter together in a small pan. Boil them for 2 minutes. Take the pan off the burner and let it cool. Your bourbon drizzle is ready now.
Step 7: Making the Frosting
In a large bowl, mix 1 cup butter, 3 tablespoons of bourbon, and 2-3 cups powdered sugar until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy. Add 2-4 tablespoons whipped cream such that it’s easy to spread and the frosting holds its shape.
Finally, serve the brownies after generously applying the frosting on top of each brownie. Drizzle the brownies with Bourbon syrup. You can also top with melted chocolate and pecan halves.
